Founded January 2010
ASPiA was created in 2010 by Pippa Christie. She moved to the area after volunteering with Parent Power Leeds Ltd in West Yorkshire and was keen to find a support network in Rossendale. She tried to get information about local groups but this was sketchy at best and with no contact or clear information she decided to set up a Facebook page and create a newsletter.
Within 12 months Pippa met Rebecca Dunne and Louise Cunniff, sadly Rebecca moved after 18 months with ASPiA. Louise is an amazing mum who spends a lot of time counselling parents and runs 2 support groups. Rebecca has raised a lot of money for Stepping Stones Special Needs Nursery, Tor View Special School. Together we have worked hard to secure funding to help other families and give hope and help to children coming through the system.
This group was set up with the intention that parents would get involved and make the network their own, we would welcome new members to help shape the service we offer. We work only to help others and give children with additional needs the best start we can. If you would like to get involved and volunteer we would love to hear from you. Please call 01706 601136
